This morning the Canadian Union of Postal Workers issued a 72-hour strike notice and can walk off the job as early as Friday. We don’t currently know if there will be rotating strikes, a full strike or a lockout, but we are operating as if there are no postal services available just in case.
But don’t worry!
Our obligation to our valued customers comes first and we have a plan in place. Most of our deliveries do not use Canada Post, and we will use other delivery services for those that would normally go by post. For sending your fabric to us, Canadian customers can use any courier service (Purolator, UPS and FedEx are the most accessible), and customers in the US can use UPS Standard or FedEx Ground with a declared value of $20 or less.
In the rare event that these alternatives are not available, we will work with individual customers to come to a solution.
Though it can be stressful for small businesses like us, we support the union’s right to strike and hope that they can come to a beneficial agreement soon! We will keep you updated with any changes to the situation as it affects our business in the future.
