With a very heavy heart I have to announce that Nestling Keepsakes cannot accept any new orders from the United States for the foreseeable future. Canadian orders remain unaffected.
I reassure all of my current US customers that your orders will ship as scheduled, including those made in the past week under Holiday timelines.
I've been operating under the impression that keepsakes handmade in Canada are covered under the current CUSMA/USMCA trade agreement, but it seems that's not the case. This means that all of my shipments across the border will be subject to a 35% tariff fee + brokerage fees per shipment and per item. The US is requiring that all of these fees be paid in advance of arriving at the border, meaning sellers are on the hook. This is financially devastating to my business, and therefore to me and my family.
The fact that I am busy enough to have such a long turnaround time means that I have over 20 open orders worth thousands of dollars that are scheduled to ship to the US over the next few months. I cannot in good conscience require these fees be paid by my current US customers, as you have ordered well in advance of these changes. Nestling Keepsakes will pay any fees required to ship your orders on time, though this means that I will be working for very little profit. If you are willing to pay the part or all of the tariff and brokerage fees for your order, please let me know and I will send you an invoice after shipment. This is appreciated but not required.
I hope that Nestling Keepsakes can continue to operate into the future, as this has been my passion project and my full time job for nearly 11 years now. If anything changes I will let you all know.
Please stay in touch via social media.
